5 questions and 1 piece of advice: Coleen Quigley

Hey guys! Today I bring you an amazing athlete, Colleen Quigley. She is without a doubt one of the best steeplechasers out there and a truly inspirational athlete. She is one of those runners with a pretty amazing story, how she gave up modeling to become a professional athlete, how she became an Olympian... I leave at the end the link to her website so you can check her career in more detail. Colleen finished 8th in the 3000m steeplechase in Rio and 12th in the same event at the 2015 World Championships. She also earned nine NCAA All-American honors while running for Florida State University, among her many accomplishments and more to come, as she has her eyes set on the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo. Here are Colleen's 5 questions, enjoy!

- When did you start running and why?

I started running in gradeschool but didn't really like it that much. I picked it back up in high school and loved it because I enjoyed being part of the team in cross country.

- What do you think is more important in an athlete, mind or body, and why?

I used to think running was much more a physical sport, but as I've gotten older, I've realized more the power of the mind and the importance of working on your mental game.

- Who's your greatest inspiration in running?

Most of my biggest inspirations are not actually runners. I look up to women like Naomi Osaka- someone who crush their sport and are the best at what they do but also work so much outside of their sport to make an impact on the world and speak up for minorities and underserved communities. Her impact is felt outside of tennis and she uses her stardom in her sport to amplify her real message. That is truly an inspiring way to live your life and leave a legacy.

- What's your next goal?

My next big goal is to qualify for my 2nd Olympic Games and compete for a medal in Tokyo this summer.

- So, big question now, what's the key to success according to you?

I don't believe there is one key to success. There’re many different components that all come together to achieve great things. I am always looking to maximize the potential I have by working on my mental and physical game and surrounding myself with people who support and inspire me to grow and think bigger and do more.

I hope you liked this! Cheers and see you soon!
