Today I bring you a new athlete... Drew Hunter was born in Virginia, USA. He has an impressive track record in high school athletics and is the HS record holder for the indoor mile and 3k. At the age of 18 he signed a contract with Adidas, becoming a professional athlete. He is the 2019 American two-mile champion, sixth place in the 2018 USATF Outdoor Championships and champion of the Footlocker XC. So, here are the 5 questions and 1 piece of advice from Drew. - What motivates you the most in workouts?
What motivates me the most in workouts is knowing that I’m preparing to set personal bests in races.
- What would you say is your biggest strength as an athlete?
I would say my biggest strength as an athlete is probably my mind, I feel like I do a good job preparing mentally before big races.
- What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced in your career?
The biggest challenge I’ve faced in my career is definitely when I torn my plantar and the had three stress fractures in my right foot. I was out for many months and really out of shape and then also mentally I was exhausted from all the rehab.
- What’s your biggest achievement in sports?
My biggest achievement in sports is probably me winning the US title.
- What’s been the most embarrassing moment in your career?
The most embarrassing moment in my running career… ehhh… I actually don’t know… That’s a good question…
- What piece of advice would you give to someone who’s struggling with motivation?
If you’re struggling with motivation I would say, you know, refocus on your goals, remind yourself why you started this originally and then just make training fun, mix it up, make something different.
