A planet to run on

As runners we know how to appreciate the value of the air we breathe, the water we drink, the roads we walk or the sky above our heads. We know how to value a planet of which we are inevitably a part and which gives us everything we need.

For years now, our world has taken a dangerous course. Factories, vehicles, nuclear power plants, uncontrolled lighting... are causing a natural impact far beyond what we perceive.

Dumping, air pollution, light pollution, the greenhouse effect, rising sea levels, mass extinction and extreme weather events are now a reality. The average amount of garbage generated each day by a person in Europe is 1.5 kg (60% of which is plastic), transport is responsible for a third of carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere each year and renewable energies are far from being of any interest to large multinationals. And that is just the tip of the iceberg. The data is becoming more and more dramatic as time goes by and we don't seem to want to notice it.

The garbage we generate, the vehicles we drive and the thousands of industries that manufacture the products we consume all contribute every day to destroying the delicate balance on which our whole lives are based.

In the name of progress and profit, human beings are starting a process of self-destruction that could soon be irreversible.

At this rate, we will soon no longer have a planet to run on. In our hands and in our voice is the change!
