What is better than doing something you like after a long time? That's what kept going through my mind while I was making sure for the fifth time that the bib was well hooked and the laces were well tied and the hair tie was well tightened. This is the ritual before the competition. And then, the nerves that disappear as soon as the starting shot sounds, the air that enters your lungs with every stride, the fleeting ideas that pass through your mind as you spin the ring, the approaching finish line and...
This weekend in Elviña (A Coruña), in those Galician championships so different from the others, many sensations came back to me.I will not lie by saying that everything was not a bit strange, in a stadium empty of people, without noise, shouting, laughing or big hugs of emotion. It was a pleasure to be able to run the 5,000 meters, even if it was without the crowd and with fewer runners than usual. I leave very happy with that silver medal in my category, very much linked to the circumstances. And congratulations to Isabel Caeiro for that magnificent first place and to Gabriela Quintás for the third one.
It was a different day but a great return to the track. Because for those of us who like to go from one place to another to go around an oval, there is nothing better than running among people who share your passion for what you do.
